In 2004 KSL stayed with the point system to try it out for one more year. Much like 2003, the points system was different because you added up your points throughout the year and winner was the team with the most points. In addition to these changes, KSL didn't lose anyone and gained two new competitors in Dave Pate and Charlie Harker.

Week 1-5

Throughout the first few weeks of play we saw a very close race for first place. In fact, last place was under 300 points behind first. Kevin Smith was the leader in the first two weeks but Aaron was able to come back and lead the league through week 5. Aaron's lead was very small and there were 2 other teams within 50 points of his lead and 3 more teams within 150 points.

Week 6-10

Through this stretch of the season we saw a group of 6 stay pretty close together and we saw the bottom two teams of Mike and Charlie fall a little bit more. Mike was within 200 points of the next person but Charlie was already 200 points behind Mike.

Aaron was the point leader for weeks 6,7 but Dave Pate had some great weeks and he was able to take over during weeks 8,9. However, Andrew had a huge week and pulled off a 500 point game to give him the lead for week 10. The top 6 teams were within 200 points of each other and when teams can pull off huge gains like Andrew did, anything could happen.

Week 11-17

During this final stretch of the playoffs, we saw a gap between the top and bottom teams increase. Charlie kept falling behind by a large margin and Mike slowly fell from the middle of the pack. Brian, Frail, Andrew and Aaron kept a close race until Frail had some big weeks and he moved closer to Kevin and Dave who were the leaders. At the end of the final week, Dave Pate was able to remain champion. Kevin did come close to overcoming Dave but was unable to do so. Frail and Andrew were neck and neck at the end as were Brian and Aaron. Meanwhile, Charlie was at the far bottom and Mike was in between him and Aaron.

Legacy

This was the final year of the points system. It was much closer this year as opposed to the previous year. However, going head to head seemed the most logical move. It was more competitive and it allowed for owners whose teams were under performing a chance to upset another team.
