APHughes: /* Most Wins */

Pickems is a style of Fantasy Football that requires owners to pick which NFL Team they think will win that week. It starts during the regular season and continues throughout the playoffs.

History
KSL Pickems was formed in 2005 with the introduction of the 2005 season. The Pickems league has more than just the owners in KSL since anyone could join. Pickems tends to see people drop off part way through the season since many people forget to make picks. About half way through the year many owners stop making picks but the top owners tend to keep making picks in hopes of becoming champion. Yahoo doesn't keep data on how many correct picks you make so some of the years do not have the data available.

For 2015 we tried our hand at doing Pickems but with using Spread Points. This led to a lower amount overall because some games were thrown out. However, it was an intriguing way of playing because of the strategy of picking lesser teams that could cover the points spread. KSL moved back to normal Pickems for 2016.

The total number of pickems one could get correct is 256 for a 16 game Regular Season and 11 for the playoffs to total 267. In 2021, the NFL introduced a 17 game regular season and carried over a 14 team playoff from 2020. The new highest score for the regular season is now 272 and 13 for the playoffs. 285 games was the new total starting in 2021.

The highest ever recorded was 181 correct by Aaron in 2011. That record stood until 2020 when Doug scored 182 after the NFL added 2 extra games. Then Dave Nanninga scored 183 when the NFL added an extra week. Currently, Sunni Christensen holds the record for best NFL Pickems with a score of 199

Joe Snider joined KSL in 2007 after sitting on the sidelines the year before. Joe has recorded one of the best records in KSL in 2011 and is known for being a dangerous opponent in the regular season.

2007-2009 - Beginning Years
Joe had a good start in 2007. He won 3 of his first 4 but he went on a 4 game losing streak that hurt his team for the final push. Joe was only able to secure 2 wins in his next 5 games and he was knocked out of the playoffs by one game.

2008 was a very rough start for Joe. Despite having won his first game, Joe dropped his next 6. This caused him to be so far behind in his division that catching back up was almost impossible. Joe did win 3 of his next 5 but was unable to make the playoffs.

In 2009 Joe won 3 of his first 4 games to be tied as the divisional leader. As the year went on, Doug was able to surpass Joe but Joe did finish 2nd in his division with a 6-6 record. In the playoffs, Joe was able to knock off Blake but he couldn't beat Travis.

2010-2013 - Playoff Bound
In 2010 Joe was able to bounce back from a disappointing loss in the playoffs. Joe lost his first two games of the year but he went on a 5 game win streak and eventually finished the year with an 8-5 record. Despite having lost to Aaron twice in the regular season, Joe took him on in the first round and was able to beat him. However, Joe lost the next round to Ty Boardman.

Joe had an impressive showing in 2010 and he wanted to continue that trend for 2011. Joe started the season with an impressive 8 game winning streak. He beat an undefeated Aaron and a 4-1 Kevin. However, in one of the biggest upsets in KSL History, Joe was finally stopped by Ty Palmer who was winless. This defeat started a 3 game losing streak for Joe. Joe was able to bounce back and finish 10-3, the best record that season. In the playoffs, Joe took on Ty Boardman and he was unable to defeat him. This was similar to what happened in the 2010 playoffs when Ty made it to the finals.

Joe was able to bounce back from a few disappointing seasons in order to become one of the top dogs in KSL. His last two seasons have netted him an 18-8 record and he is looking to expand upon that in the next season.

The 2012 season was a below average season for Joe. He traded games back and forth to start off 3-3 and he lost some games by a super close margin. He was able to secure the 8th seed in the playoffs with a 5-8 record but he was unable to beat division rival Aaron. Joe was disappointed with his season but was looking to the 2013 to make things better.

For 2013, Joe started off hot by winning 5 straight matchups. Joe almost had a playoff spot secured but then he dropped 4 straight before finally winning his next matchup. Joe lost his last 2 matchups before beating rival Brian in the final matchup to secure a playoff spot. Joe fell in the first round and finished 6th overall in the playoffs.

2014, 2015 - Fall
In 2014 Joe was in an easy division and was able to get some lucky wins. He started off the season 1-4 but won 5 of his next 6 to move on to 6-5. Joe lost his next two and because he had such few points for, he lost the tiebreaker to be in the playoffs. This was the first time Joe missed the playoffs since 2008.

For 2015 Joe started off with 3 straight losses but was able to get a big divisional win against Erik in week 4. Joe went on to lose 6 straight before getting a big win against Kevin and Ty Palmer. Despite getting those two wins, Joe finished the year 3-10. Joe's team took a free fall with only getting those 3 wins that season. An all time low for what was once a good team.

|}Andrew Hughes is the commissioner of the Kewanee Sports League, Survival and Pickems leagues. Andrew's Team Name is the Kewanee Bulldogs. Andrew is a former Survival, NFL Pickems and League Pickems Champion. He also battles Andrew every year for the Prestigious A-Cup Trophy

2002-2004
Andrew created KSL in 2002 and ended that year with a tie for the best record that year. In the playoffs, Andy was beat by Brian who ended up winning it all.

In 2003 KSL Switched to a Points System. Andrew remained in the middle of the pack for the majority of the year. He eventually finished 4th, just a few points behind his rival Kevin.

For 2004 Andrew was able to make a big impact and during week 10 he was the point leader. However, he had some bad luck in the stretch and started to fall behind. Andrew eventually finished 4th again. He was only a few points behind the 2003 winner, Lance Frail.

2005-2007
In 2005 Andy had a rough year. He only won 2 in his first 10 games. He eventually went on to finish 5-9 and as the 7th seed in the playoffs he took out the heavily favored Kevin Smith. Andrew lost the next round to Blake Clayton and finished 3rd in the playoffs that year.

2006 was a better year for Andrew. He won 7 of his first 8 matchups and ended the year by winning his division going 9-5. Andrew took out Mike in the first round but in the next round he scored the lowest points the week and fell victim to newcomer Doug. In similar fashion to the previous year, Andrew finished 3rd overall.

In 2007 Andrew had a rough year by dropping 7 of his first 9 games. He went on to go 5-8 and finished 9th overall out of 12 teams. Andy missed the playoffs by 1 win.

2008-2011
In 2008 Andrew had a good year. He started off winning 6 in a row before going in week 7 to the winless Occhi. Andy had the best regular season record with 9-3 and took his division. After the first round bye Andy beat Ty Palmer and Brian Schoutteet and made his way to the championship game for the first time in his career but lost by only a few points.

Andy had hoped to keep the momentum rolling in the 2009 season. Despite winning the first game of the year, Andy lost 4 in a row but he was able to come back and win his next 5 straight before finishing 6-6. This earned Andy the 3rd seed in the playoffs. However, Andy was not very successful in the playoffs. He lost against Dave Nanninga in the first round, Brian in the second and Occhi in the third. He was able to win his final match against Ryan.

In 2010 Andy started the season winning 6 of his first 8 games. Andy finished the year with an 8-5 record and went on to face Mike in the first round. Andy was unable to beat him like he did in the regular season. Andy was able to beat Oberg and Kevin to finish in 5th for the playoffs.

Andy had a promising start in 2011 by defeating Ty Boardman in the first week. However, he dropped his next 4 in a row. Andy had a chance to make the playoffs in the final two weeks of play but he lost to Kevin and in the final match he lost to Boardman. This marks the second time that Andy has missed the playoffs.

2012-2015
Andrew's start to the 2012 season wasn't a very good one. Despite having on of the most points for, he started off 1-5. Andy's tough start didn't detour him from making a big push to make the playoffs. He won 4 of his next 6 to make his way into the post season. Once in, he took on a divisional leader in Ty Palmer. Andy put up a good fight but it wasn't enough to stop Ty from making it past Andy. Even though Andy didn't win the Championship this year, he was determined to make better draft choices for the following season.

In 2013 Andy started off by going 3-1 before losing 4 straight matchups to fall to 3-5. However, Andy was able to get some key wins in his next set of matchups and get 4 straight wins including 2 key wins over Kevin Smith and Aaron Hughes. Andy had never beaten Aaron in the regular season and his win gave his the prestigious A-Cup trophy. His win over Kevin was his first since week 4 of the 2008 season. During the last 5 years, he had played Kevin twice every year so this win was a big historical victory for him. Andy did lose week 13 to Doug but finished the season 7-6 and secured the 4th seed in the playoffs.
Andy had lost a third straight matchup to rival Ty Boardman and eventually placed 7th overall in the playoffs.

Andy had a rough start to the 2014 season by losing his first 4 in a row. He took on divisional rival Doug in week 5 and both teams were winless at the time. Andy was able to upset Doug and 2 weeks later upset Dave Pate. Andy went on to win 4 straight games and improve to 6-6. Andy had one more obstacle in week 13. It was against Doug Hahn whom he beat earlier in the year. Doug was able to beat Andy this time and cause him to miss the playoffs. Andy was happy with his 4 game win streak but he wanted a shot at getting back to the Championship. He missed out in 2014 but is looking to improve his team for the coming years.

For 2015 Andy was moved to a new division and he started off really slow. Andy started off 1-5 going into Week 7 and he was starting to think about next season until he won his next 4 in a row to move to 5-5. For Week 11 he took on divisional leader Aaron in what would be a match for the division. Andy wasn't able to defeat his long time rival and he lost his next game which put Andy on the outside looking in for the playoffs. During week 13, Andy had not won a game since 2007 and he was taking on Ty Boardman who had only won 2 games that week, both of which were against Andy. Andy was able to get a big win that thrusted him into the playoffs and earn him a spot against Doug in the first round. Doug was able to get a big win over Andy and go on to win it all. Andy lost all his playoff matches and finished 8th overall.

2016-Present
Andy had great success in the 2016 season. Andy started off hot at 4-1 and was in a 3 way battle for the division with Aaron and Ty Palmer. However, Andy lost 2 in a row to those two and fell out of the divisional race. However Andy had a good enough record to become a wild card team. He eventually finished 7-6 with 4 of those loses coming inside his division.

Andy came in as the #6 seed and bested Doug in the first round. In the second he took down Aaron who defeated him twice in the regular season. Sadly, Andy lost by a few points in the finals to lose his second shot at the KSL Championship.

Andy started off 2017 with a couple losses before going on a 4 game winning streak. After a couple losses, Andy won his last 5 games and quietly finished the season at 9-4. Andy went into the playoffs as the top wildcard seed. He went on to defeat long time rival Aaron in the first round of the playoffs but he went on to lose to Doug the following week.

In 2018 Andy won his first game against long time rival Kevin Smith but he went on a 5 game losing streak and fell to the bottom of the league. He went on to win one more against Doug before losing out and finishing 2-11 for the season and missed the playoffs.

For 2019 Andy traded wins back and was 3-5 entering the final weeks of the season but he went on a 4 game winning streak and finished 7-6 before losing to Nanninga week 1 of the playoffs.

Andy started the 2020 season at 5-3 and was at the top of his division before losing 5 straight and he missed out of the playoffs by 1 game.

In 2021 Andy won 3 straight games and had the division secured. After losing 2 more, he won another divisional game and was 4-2. Unfortunately, he lost his next 5 games before winning one more and he was sitting at 5-7 and could have made his way into the playoffs by winning out but he finished the season at 6-8 and missed the playoffs due to tiebreakers.

The 2022 season was a tough start for Andy by being 1-3 but Andy turned things around and won 6 straight games and he took control of his division. He lost 2 key matchups but won his next 2 divisional battles to win the division for the first time since 2008. Andy went into the playoffs as the 3rd seed and defeated divisional rival Cameron.

Andrew is looking to finally make it to the championship game again and finally secure himself a the KSL Championship.
