Ryan McCarty was 1 of 3 expansion teams to KSL in 2005. He joined the ranks of Russ and Blake during this expansion period.
2005
Ryan started off the 2005 season with a bang. He won his first 4 games and was the divisional leader. During week 5, he ran into Russ who dealt him his first loss. Ryan was able to maintain a winning record and through week 11 he was the divisional leader. However, on week 12 he face Kevin for the divisional title and lost. This loss was part of a string of losses he had since week 10. Week 1-9 Ryan was 7-2 but he lost 5 straight from week 10-14. This losing streak cost Ryan the title and it may have changed the outcome of the playoffs too. Ryan's losing streak continued in the playoffs where he lost in the first round to Russ and in the second round to Dave. Eventually, he was able to beat Brian so he didn't finish 8th in the playoffs.
Legacy
Ryan's season shows why you need to be able to finish what you start. Ryan had the second best record in KSL through week 9 and dealt Dave his first loss of the year. However, losing 5 in a row caused some shifts in the seeding of the playoffs and may have caused Ryan the ability to win it all.
Ryan would have joined KSL in 2006 but because Yahoo charged money to play, Ryan didn't want to pay to play.
