Jon Occhi was an expansion owner during the 2008, 2009 series when KSL moved from Yahoo to MFL. Jon has since moved on from the league but expressed interest in another go around. Eventually, he was brought back for the 2012 season after Mike took a leave of absence. Half way through the season Jon had quit the league he had lobbied to be in.

2008

Jon joined during the 2008 expansion and was placed in a tough division with Andrew Hughes, Kevin Smith and Jon Oberg. Jon had a very rough start to the season by losing 6 in a row. However, in one of the greatest Upsets in KSL History, Occhi defeated the undefeated Andrew Hughes. Occhi wasn't able to use this win to get anymore favors though and he lost 3 more in a row. Occhi did come back strong and beat Brian and Oberg for his final two games. The win against Brian stopped him from winning the division and may have changed the course of the playoffs for 2008. In the loser bracket playoffs, Occhi beat Oberg to get the first overall pick for the following year. He did lose to Ty Boardman the next round but beat Oberg and McConnell in the next two rounds.

Overall, Occhi had a disappointing season but he wanted to come back strong the next year.

2009

For the 2009 season, Jon was determined to come back stronger than ever. The first 5 games of the season did not show off the determination Occhi had though. He eventually was able to beat Dave Pate but dropped 3 straight before finally beating Oberg and Brian. This may sound familiar since he beat both of them in the final two weeks the year before. During the loser bracket playoffs, Jon was unable to beat Brian and so he was out of the running for the #1 seed the following year. He also dropped his next game to Ty Boardman but beat Andrew and Mike in his last two of the season.

Much like the 2008 season, Jon had troubles getting started out of the gate. Ultimately, he did not play the role of an upsetter this season but he did stop Brian from attempting to make it in the playoffs.

2012

In 2012 Mike had decided to leave KSL and Jon took the reigns and stepped in to take over. Jon had taken two seasons off and is now ready to come back strong. However, after dropping 2 in a row, Jon decided KSL was taking up too much of his time and so he quit. In accordance with KSL Bylaws, we left his team as is and he played out the rest of his season with his team.

Jon's season started off strong by winning 3 of his first 4 but he eventually lost 7 of his next 9 games to eventually finish 5-8. Ironically, this was his best season in KSL.

Legacy

During Occhi's two years in KSL he amassed a 6-18 record. This was one of the lowest records in a two year span. Many attribute the record to Jon's love for Patriots players. He drafted current and former Patriots to play on his team and so he had issues with BYE weeks and the ball getting passed around. Also, the commissioner was the one who mostly managed his team during Jon's two year span. Later, he lobbied the commissioner to rejoin the league but quit half-way through.

Jon's time in KSL shows that an owner who doesn't care about the league is destined to fail in the long run no matter how good your draft day team is.
