In the 2009 season, KSL stayed with MFL for one final season. KSL saw the departure of Andy McConnell and the addition of Dave Nanninga. Ryan Skender had initially joined the league but didn't touch his team at all. The 2009 season saw Three owners break out to a big lead at the beginning and a couple others fall early on.

KSL was broken into 2 conferences and 2 divisions within each conference. You played everyone in your division twice for a total of 6 games and everyone in the other division once for 4 more games. To round out the last two we had interconference games that took place. The first game saw the top owners take on each other and then the next game saw owners choose their opponents.

Week 1-4

The PBnJ North Division saw Kevin break out to an early lead by winning 3 in a row. but lost in week 4 to Ty Palmer. Dave Nanninga went 2-2 to be 2nd in his division. Andy won his first week but lost the next 3 straight but was still 3rd in his division. Jon Occhi continued his losing streak from last season and lost his first 4 games in a row.

PBnJ South was very competitive but still had a top dog in Ty Palmer win 4 straight. Ty Boardman won 3 of 4 to be in a close second place. Dave Pate lost his first 2 but won 2 straight to finish 2-2. Brian had a rough start and was 1-3 and at the bottom of his division.

Over in the 5 Bucks Below the Belt Conference, we saw Joe Snider and Mike Smith jump to an early lead by going 3-1. Doug Hahn and Jon Oberg had a rough start by going 1-3 in the first 4 weeks of the season. The Hula division was lopsided with 2 on top and 2 on the bottom but it was only the start of the season.

The Wooters division saw Travis jump to an early lead and take 4 straight. Meanwhile, defending champion Ryan won his first 2 before losing his next 2 games which were both divisional. Aaron and Blake had a rough start, much like Jon and Doug. They started off 1-3 and were fighting to get out of last in their division.

Week 5-8

Kevin continued his winning ways and won 3 of his next 4 to finish this set at 6-2. Andy came back from the dead and after losing 4 straight, he won his next 3 to be 4-4 and get back into the playoff hunt. Dave Nanninga won 2 more in this set to also be 4-4 and be in the playoff race. Meanwhile, Jon Occhi was able to get a lucky win over Dave Pate to be 1-7 so far this season.

Ty Palmer continued his winning ways and became 8-0. Next in his division was Dave Pate at 4-4. Dave continued to trade wins and was tied for 3rd in his conference. Ty Boardman had a rough patch and lost 4 straight but was still in the playoff hunt. Brian had won 2 games and moved into 3-5 and was tied with Boardman for a playoff spot.

Joe Snider continued his winning ways and won 2 more games to improve to 5-3. Mike had a rough stretch and lost 3 games but he was still second at 4-4. Doug got a few more wins in to improve to 3-5. At the bottom, Jon was unable to get a win during this set and so he fell to 1-7 and tied for last in the league.

Travis continued his winning ways and won his next 4 to improve to 8-0. This was the first time in KSL history we've had two teams go this long and be undefeated. In a distant second, we had Blake get 3 wins to improve to 4-4. Aaron got 2 big wins to improve to 3-5 and Ryan defeated Aaron in that stretch to become 3-5 as well.

Legacy

Ty Palmer almost became the first owner in KSL history to go undefeated but Ty Boardman thwarted his attempts at being perfect. In the interconference games we saw two undefeated teams take on each other in what was one of the best games of the season. We also saw these two meet again in the finals for a round 2 match. This was the second and final season for KSL in MFL. We took many of the experiences of MFL with us to Yahoo and improved the next few seasons.
