Dave Pate joined KSL in 2004 and is one of the only owners to win the first year they joined. Dave has one of the best overall records percentage wise and has only had 2 losing seasons out of 8. Dave is considered one of the most dangerous owners to go up against and his record shows why.

2004 - Championship

Dave joined the league in 2004 and after a rough start to the season, Dave became the clear leader in the points race. Dave ended up having 140 points above his competition at the years end. Dave's win showed that he was going to be a force to be reckoned with.

2005-2007 - Playoff Contention

Dave started off the 2005 Season going 8-0 until he ran into Ryan McCarty in week 9. Ryan had gone 6-2 and was doing quite well that year. After losing to Ryan, Dave went on to beat Blake but lost his following game to Brian who was 5-5 going into week 11. Dave finished out the regular season going 12-2, a record for the 14 game seasons. In the playoffs Dave met the 8th seeded Aaron Hughes. Dave put up his second lowest point total of the season and got knocked out first round. This is a curse for the #1 seeds that plagues everyone to this day. Dave ended up finishing the playoffs in 6th place.

2006 was another good year for Dave. Despite starting 2-5 on the season, Dave ended up finishing 5-2 in his last 7 games to give him an even 7-7 record for the season. Dave had 2 of his losses decided by fewer than 2 points. Dave got knocked out of the playoffs in week 15 having put up the lowest points that week and losing to Doug who put up the second lowest points that week. Dave went on to finish 6th in the playoffs.

2007 was a tough start for Dave who went 1-4 his first 5 games. He was able to bounce back and 5 of his next 7 to finish 6-7 which was good enough to get him into the playoffs. Once he made it in, Dave was able to get revenge on Doug and Aaron in the first two rounds. However, Dave was unable to beat Mike Smith who ended up winning it that year.

2008, 2009 - MFL

Dave had a rocky start to the 2008 season. He went 1-3, similar to how the 2007 season started. However, Dave was able to bounce back and win 4 of his next 5 matchups. Going into the final week of the season Dave was going to play Ty Boardman and Brian was to play Ty Palmer. A win by Dave and loss by Brian would give Dave the divisional title and a first round bye. Dave was able to overcome Boardman and Palmer was able to defeat Brian. Unfortunately, Dave was unable to win a single game in the playoffs and finished 0-3.

Dave had another rough year in 2009 mostly because Ty Palmer was in his division and Ty finished the season 11-1. Dave traded wins all year long. At the end of the season, Dave stopped Brian from making it into the playoffs and beat Ty Boardman in the first week of the playoffs. In the next round, Kevin was able to stop Dave's momentum. Dave ended up 2-2 in the playoffs that year.

2010-2015 - Playoff Push

In 2010 Dave started 2-3 but went on a 6-0 run on his way to the playoffs. Dave took out Oberg in the first round but lost to Mike in the next round. Dave ended up in third place for 2010.

2011 was similar to 2010 for Dave. He started off 1-3 but went on a 6-0 run before finishing 8-5 again. 8 wins was enough to win his division and secure the third seed for the playoffs. Once again, Dave took out Oberg in the first round but he fell victim to Ty Boardman in the second round. Dave ended up going 2-1 in the 2011 playoffs and finishing 3rd again.

For 2012, Dave started off the year with some loses to heavy hitters early in the season. However, he was able to come back and challenge division rival Ty Palmer for control of the division. Dave lost that match in week 13 but he met 3 of the people who beat him earlier that season in the playoffs. First up was Kevin whose team was destroyed by injuries and next was Aaron who put up a big fight but lost by a few points. Finally, Dave took on the team that beat him twice earlier in the season, Ty Palmer. Dave was able to finally beat Ty and get over the hump. Dave won his second KSL Championship and joined the ranks of Mike and Aaron in becoming a Two-Time Champion. He became the only owner to win in the point system and in the head to head system.

In 2013 Dave started off the year with a win over heavily favorited Doug Hahn. However he would drop 4 straight before winning his next 2 to start off 3-4. Dave lost his next 3 in a row before taking down Doug one more time. His next two matchups were essentially playoff games as he needed to win in order to make it in. He was able to win both of those and score enough points to make it in as the 8th seed and take on Doug Hahn for a third time this year. Dave was unable to take down Doug for a third time. This was 1 of 4 matchups in which one team had 2 wins against the other. Only Doug was able to stop it from being a 3rd. Dave went on to win his next two matchups and finish 5th overall.

For 2014 Dave started off hot and won his first 4 matches. He ended up losing his next 3 in a row but went on to win 5 of his next 6 and clinched his division in week 11. Dave took out Erik VanHyfte in round 1 and Aaron in round 2. in 2014 we had Dave v Dave in the Dave Bowl. Dave Pate wasn't able to get his third championship that year but Dave broke the record for conference championship that season.

2015 had Dave move into a new division but he made an immediate impact. Dave won his first game against Kevin but fell short in his next two. He turned it around and 2 more to be 3-2 and second in his division. Dave went on to trade away losses and victories and finish the season at 7-6 and the 6th seed. Dave took on long time rival Aaron Hughes in the first round of the playoffs. These two have met on 5 occasions but mostly in the second round. Dave was able to defeat Aaron and then Brian to make it back to the finals for the 3rd time in 4 years. However, Dave was unable to defeat Doug Hahn who won his first ever KSL Championship.
