2007

This was the 5th season of KSL and the third in the head to head format. The 2006 Season had many twists and turns that saw Brian break out into an early lead and almost go undefeated if not for Mike beating him twice. Brian was the number one seed but was knocked out of the playoffs by the number 8 seed, Blake Clayton. The 5th seeded team, Aaron, took out Blake to make it to the finals. On the other side of the league we had Doug and Andy make it within one game but Andy scored the lowest points that week and so Doug moved on to the finals. Aaron was victorious in their matchup to capture his first KSL Title. Doug's run to the finals was an interesting one because Doug scored the second lowest points 2 weeks in a row. He made it through by playing the team that scored the least points that week.

Week 1-4

In the Byaaah! division we had Brian and Mike jump out to an early lead by going 3-1. Brian's only loss came against Mike whereas Mike's loss came against Doug. Meanwhile, Aaron and Doug were at the bottom of the division with 1 win a piece. Aaron's only win came against Doug.

PBnJ saw Andrew jump out to a commanding lead by winning 4 straight. Kevin wasn't far behind him with 3. Dave Pate had a disappointing start with only 1 win and Blake was 0-4 to start the 2006 season.

Week 5-9

Brian was able to get back on his winning ways by winning every game during this stretch to improve to 8-1 and secure himself the divisional title. Aaron was able to win some close games and go 3-2 during this stretch and improve to 4-5. Mike had a rough go and lost 5 straight dropping him to 3-6. Doug was at the bottom at 2-7 but his 2 wins came at the expense of Mike.

Andy was able to keep winning but he lost to Aaron and Brian to finish 7-2 for that stretch. Kevin went 3-2 during that stretch to improve to 6-3 for the year. He had 2 key losses to Andy. Dave had gone 3-2 for this stretch too but he finished 4-5 overall. Blake was able to get 2 big wins over opponents int he other division and improve to 2-7.

Week 10-14

Brian continued his winning ways by finishing with 9 straight wins. Mike was able to put an end to his winning ways and be his only two losses for that year. During this stretch, Brian went 4-1 and finished the season at 12-2 and secured the division and top seed for the playoffs. Aaron was able to secure the second spot in the division despite going 2-3 and finishing 6-8 and securing the 5th seed. Doug was able to go 3-2 and improve to 5-9 and Mike finished 2-3 to also fall to 5-9. 3 of Doug's wins came in his matchups against Mike. This started a long heated rivalry between the two. They had finished as the 6th and 7th seed respectfully.

Andrew had finished 2-3 during this stretch but improved to 9-5 overall and win his first divisional title in KSL. Andy secured the 2nd seed in the playoffs going into week 13. Dave was able to come back and win 3 of the 5 matchups to finish 7-7 and secure the 3rd seed overall. Kevin went 1-4 and fell to 7-7 but secured the 4th seed. Blake had a good string of wins with 4 in a row. 3 of which during that stretch. Despite this playoff push, Blake still finished 5-9 and was the 8th seed in the playoffs.

Playoffs

Brian won the right to be the top seed and take on Blake the bottom seed but in a surprising move, Blake was able to upset Brian. Meanwhile, Andy was able to stop a big upset from happening by defeating the 7th seeded Mike. 3rd seed Dave Pate was upset by Doug Hahn and Kevin was soundly defeated by 5th seed Aaron Hughes.

In the second round, Aaron defeated 8th seeded Blake and ended his Cinderella story. On the other side, Andy was upset by Doug. For the championship game, Aaron was able to defeat Doug and secure his first KSL Championship.

Legacy

This was the final year that KSL had only 8 teams and it was the final year that all the owners made the playoffs. After the 2006 season we saw 4 owners miss the playoffs every season aside from 2010 when 6 missed. This season saw Doug and Mike create a huge rivalry as well as Aaron and Blake. Aaron won his first championship and became a more important owner after the end of the 2006 season. Towards the end of the 2006 season we saw interest from Joe Snider, Jon Oberg and Ty Palmer. They joined us in the 2007 season and have become important owners in KSL.

The biggest change in 2007 was some teams would be missing the playoffs. Unlike previous years, 4 teams would miss out and therefore create a more competitive atmosphere for the years to come.
